Language
Language can be an interesting thing. When you go to another
culture, what you call something could be a little confusing. For example, if
you have a fire in your house you would want to call the Fire Brigade. Marc
would want to get a pop at Maccis (McD’s). If he wanted to take it home, he
would do a take away. To pass someone on the road you would do a takeover. We
need to use the lift at the office to go from one floor to the next. And
yesterday a ‘bella was an essential, due to the rain. We are planning on going
to the harbor on Sunday and need to go to the Key to catch the ferry. People
with babies would want to have lots of nappies for when they needed to change
their babies.
Culture
We were able to go to a shopping center on Saturday. We have
a preconceived notion of what would be in a shopping center. This one had a
bowling alley, laser tag, movie theater, and shops. But what was interesting
was the bottom floor. There were two grocery stores (Aldi and Woolworth), a
fish market, a meat market, and an oriental grocery. The device going from
floor to floor was metal, but it was one level, not having any steps on it.
This made it easy for people to move shopping carts and buggies from one floor
to the next.

In the afternoon, Christine took us to the Blue Mountains,
an absolutely beautiful place to visit. The Blue Mountains is
densely populated by oil bearing Eucalyptus trees. The atmosphere is filled
with finely dispersed droplets of oil, which, in combination with dust
particles and water vapor, scatter short-wave length rays of light which are
predominantly blue in color. The area is a sandstone base, which reminded me of
home.

While there we saw a wedding. Christine told us that this was a bridal
car, due to the white ribbons on the front.
